- Chair, Associate/Professor of Instructional Support Programs

Alabama State University, Academic Affairs/College of Education, invites application for the position of Chair, Associate/Full Professor of Instructional Support Programs The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a shared vision through collaborative leadership, sustaining a collegial environment, developing appropriate curriculum and implementing a culture of assessment. The candidate for this position must promote excellence in teaching, scholarship and service with emphasis on teaching and service. The department chair will work collaboratively and supervise Instructional Support Program faculty. This is a tenure-track position in one of the following areas as an Associate or Full Professor in areas in ISP (Educational Leadership, Policy and Law, Instructional Leadership, Counseling, Applied Technology or Library Media).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Dean of the College of Education in formulating and administering instruction and curriculum policies
Teach courses in the respective areas
Develop and revise courses, ensure that current courses syllabi have been prepared, incorporate methods for improving instruction, and facilitate the development of appropriate course shells and materials for online course delivery
Monitor the assessment cycle for all programs in Instructional Support Programs
Complete the Annual Performance Review of all faculty in the department
Plan and attend recruiting events for COE and ISP
Lead accreditation in ISP with the respective team and collaborate with COE staff
Submit individual annual dossier for Teaching, Reading, Academic Citizenship and Community Service
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
A terminal degree (Ph.D./Ed.D.) from an accredited institution, 2-3 years of experience in an administrative role in higher education (preferably as a department chair or program coordinator), experience in K-12 or higher education as a teacher, counselor, principal, assistant principal or administrator, experience as a director of coordinator in closely related education field, and have experience with national and state accreditation requirements and processes. The desired applicant will possess a background in at least of of the areas in Instructional Support Programs (APT, ILP, ELPL, COU, LEM).
It is to be noted that for the purpose of continuous improvement of faculty qualifications as faulty members complete advanced degrees, certifications, licenses, etc., the faculty member will send official documentation, within 45 days of hire, to the Office of Human Resources, and the credentialing file in Academic Affairs.
